:x So in my quest to atempt to buy a 2008 xjr1300 i finally come to a dead end. I live in lubbock texas, which means it wasnt going to be cheap to get one, but im ok with that. i contacted several yamaha dealers in europe and austrailia to see if i could buy one and have it shipped over to the us crated. the only response i got back was a laugh and an email basically saying that it would cost more than 10k to have it registered inspected and legal in the us. i also found out that there is only ONE in the us and it a '02 and still has german tags on it. so i have realized my defeat and have started on a paper craft bike. within the next 3 years i will be moving to europe for a while so i can bring one back with me. to my understanding of the law, anyone that has lived in europe for over 6months, can bring their inpected and european approved transportation to the us for about 2k. including shipping. and yes i think im crazy

haha that is good news. my plan was once i got it into the states, and if it got stuck in customs for whatever reason, i was just going to tell them its only a race bike. then ride it around like normal with my 550 plates on it. around here the only reason i get pulled over is so the officer can look at it. even if im speeding.

    DPS in Texas, whoa boy!
They go all the way. When a Full Blown flips those lights, expect a ticket.
There are folks that get away with warnings, but chances are significantly lower than getting a warning from the local yokels.
Atleast in my part of the neighborhood, Austin, and DFW they work "hard"
I like your dedication but there are other violations.

Operating a veh NOT licensed for public roadways
    No Insurance
    No safety inspection.
And sure enough, the ticket for originally being pulled over.
AND on top of that, the bike being confiscated.(I think)
