I intalled a fuel filter but it's too bulky and not laying right.. I remember seeing a thread about a 90 degree filter from someone somewhere.. With the one that's on now, I have to tilt/flick it a few times and shake the bike to get a small amount of gas to the carbs to create a vacuum and get the blood flowing... once it starts it's fine.. anyone got a part number.. I've checked walmart, ace hardware and ebay.. I haven't gone to home depot yet... but I'm limited on my stores due to living on an island... Appreciations

fl5) Aftermarket In-Line Fuel Filters. This is the cheapest and best investment you can make for a long, clean life for your carbs. Available as either round or cone-shaped clear plastic filter units, they go a long way towards preventing contaminants from your fuel tank ever getting into your carbs.

HCP2734 aftermarket In-Line Fuel Filter, cone-shaped 2" long housing has a clear, see-through housing with a bronze mesh filter. This unit has 90-degree angled inlet and outlet tubes (pointed 90-degrees opposite of each other), which is useful in the "tight-squeeze" conditions that exist under some models! NOTE: the sintered bronze filter element goes TOWARDS the tank....meaning the 90-degree rotated (from the centerline) INPUT nipple (from the tank) is approximately 1" off the centerline of the housing. The entire housing---including the inlet nipple, is about 2" wide, and---including the outlet nipple---is about 2-1/4" long. For 1/4" ID fuel line, which is the correct size fuel line for all XJ-series bikes of this era.

http://www.heeters.com/fuel.shtml lists #ET-15-1921, but a Google search for that number turns up only that one website. http://www.powersportequipment.com/prod ... =999151921 lists part 15-1921 though, which is the same # except for the ET- bit.

Another one is shown on http://www.wakularacing.com/fuel_system.asp, no part # listed there though.

    http://www.itw-fastex-cva.com/content/view/34/33/ shows three part numbers:
    8423-00-9909 (FF701LC)
    8432-00-9909 (FF707C)
    8433-00-9909 (FF707CB)

I have the straight version of the above sintered filters on my XS400, works fine. Hope you can get one delivered to you!
