Has anyone every attempted this on an XJ550? I can find replacement sprockets, but I can't find any for a 520 chain. Anyone know what other bikes' sprockets would fit?

From the info I've found, this is supposed to save up to 4lbs of unsprung weight and add acceleration from the reduced mass of the chain.

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Brandon

I don't think you'd notice any change in acceleration. 4 lbs isn't much. Riding without your jacket would probably be the same.

True but your jacket isn't rotating mass!

What is the stock chain size? On my Z1 I replaced the 630 chain with a 520 chain. Total mass saved was about 6 lbs, but that was 6 pounds working against the motor and sucking hp. It takes less power to rotate the mass of the 520 setup basically. Another plus with the Z1 was the cost of 630 chains vs 520 chains and availability of the same. Sprocket Specialties was who I went through, had to find the right size sprocket in the catalogue and match it up with my stock sprockets. On the Z I used a Mach III rear and a ZX6 front. Hope this helps, cruzerjd
