So thanks to things that are out of my control it looks like my bike may not be on the road till next riding season.

that awesome job that I've been waiting on since February still hasn't started.
5 weeks ago I was told id get a call in 3 weeks, now at least another 2 weeks till I get a call.
the guy who hired me and did my informal interview has jumped to another company and has informed me that someone "may" be contacting me about a formal interview in order to get hired for the position. (pulling hair out)

so enough rant, I've decided to scrape together enough pennies over the coming months to try to do a couple upgrades.
one being the new brake lines and MC rebuild i desperately need, Changing the fuse block for a blade style one, Probably to a proper rebuild and sync on my carbs instead of just the tear down and clean. Maybe some paint (don't know what colour yet) including the frame and such.
after a failed bar swap attempt I need a new throttle cable, needed one before tho. and lastly figure out why my fuel gauge and battery light don't work.

if you guys can think of any other low buck upgrades or modifications I should look into I would be happy to hear them.

OH and most importantly get the ownership changed so I actually own the damn thing haha

Low buck? Just do your best to make it safe and reliable. Ride it. Save the modifications for when you have cash to burn. If there is any rust, don't bother with paint for now. Wire brush it to remove the loose stuff, then treat it with a rust converter.

the reason for not riding it is cause I can't afford the insurance this year.

I have to do something about the carbs for sure as well because it floods super easy and i am having a hell of a time trying to start it these days.

things I need money for in order to put it on the road this year, ownership transfer, insurance, carb rebuild kits, petcock seals, brake lines, MC rebuild(brakes are way too soft even after bleeding them to death). AND Certification.

I may get it on the road in August or by September IF this job starts in july which pays double what I'm making now, and can get all the work done quickly which may require a professional bike mechanic.

last but not least my daughter is due to join our family in August so all other extra funds are going toward finishing the nursery before that happens.

p.s Sorry if this is turning into a pity/rant thread.

oh ya and the insurance quote I got is roughly $200 a month for only the months I want liability on it,

or 147 a month but those guys want me to pay for the entire 12 months not just the 6 it would need it.

Sounds to me like you are getting shafted on insurance quotes. I'm paying $100 a year for my 650J.

My son at the age of 16 only paid $120 a year for insurance on an XS1100. (liability only) But that is here in the US, Canada's insurance is way over priced (from what I have seen)

so good news on the insurance, I shopped around to every insurance agent I could find and managed a $900 a year quote.

ontario motorcycle insurance is crazy anyways.

the even better news is that by switching all my policies over to this company with the amount I am saving it will really only cost me an extra $35 a month.

I intend on pulling the truck off the road if I can just to save another $60 a month not to mention the fuel savings of riding the bike.

loading the bike into the truck to take to the motocycle mechanic / restorer at my uncles shop appropriately nicknamed "Dr Dipp" (last name is Dipp just to be clear).

I see the light at the end of the tunnel and im running for it. lol

Re: 750 may go on the road this year......more tinkering!!

The bike is in the hands of dr dipp at the shop as off last friday and we're off to a meeting with our maybe new insurance company about swapping the vehicles and putting on the bike.

still waiting for a call from dipp but I have arraigned for the appraisal to be done on the bike while it is there so that when I pick it up I can just go right to the licence office and get my plates.

that will be a happy day.

Insurance is setup for monday, safety was done thursday, and the ownership was transfered today,

TIP always make sure that your paperwork is 100% ready and legit before you go in, Had a huge problem with my appraisal. ( in Ontario vehicles over 20yrs old have to be appraised in order to pay the appropriate amount of sales tax)

office was open from 9 to 12 today, I was the first one in, then left to get first appraisal "fixed", got back at 10 waited till 10:20 then had to leave to get another appraisal done then got back to the licence office at 11:50 and was the last person there.

was a huge pain but now its all done and Monday Morning it gets the first ride into work.
