    Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the advice on getting my carburetor slide unstuck and advice about the piston rings. All that has been fixed and replaced. The bike ran great for a short while, but alas, it seems as thought it's time to change the crank seals and I'm looking for a little advice and experience in this. Thanks in advance.

I have a digital manual that I paid $4 for from eBay, but as far as manuals go, this is lacking in some instructions i.e. "Remove old seals, put in new seals, start bike, ride"...or something along those lines.

I haven't tackled this yet, I'm just thinking it's the crank seal on the clutch side as it seems to be the most mentioned repair in a web search.

It was running great after I had replaced the rings and piston, then all of a sudden it started running like heck. Lots of smoke, no power in the high range....just gutless.

I assume it's the crank seal.

I'm hoping this can be done without splitting the cases, anyone done this before on one of these older DT's?

    Thanks in advance

Okay, Just to finish this little lonely post...just in case anyone is searching and lands on this page.

Crank seals on this bike: VERY EASY. No need to split cases. I changed both sides in a couple of hours, it would probably be less time if I had a good manual. The seals are inexpensive (around $10 each) and a gasket set (either eBay or your local Yammer dealer) is about $20.

This was definitely the problem, the bike runs great again.

Thanks K-Moe, I seem to remember that you suggested I change these seals at the get-go. Correct as usual! Thanks.
