I have a stock 650 Maxim with the ugly as heck bars on there. I want to put a set of raised drag bars...maybe a 5-6 inch rise with a straight type bar.....I've been searching the fourm for a few days and the only way I can see doing this with the stock triple is to change it for a seca or virago top. They have the removalable lower handle bar clamp that would then allow any range of aftermarket hardly type bar install.

Has anybody else done this a different way. I have used double mount type riser and bar setup on sleds before but that is just a little ugly for a pretty bike!! I'm not looking to drop the bars down to a straight bar and loose the height and the ape hanger look is not for me just yet.

    Thanks

Looking for a little like the second pic with the stock front end. Not looking for the first with the low bars.

The first set of bars look just like the second, only flipped upside down.

I agree the bars look similar.......but the mounting is way way different. I'm looking to remove the stock handlebars and leave the stock front end and have a drag bar that has been risen a few inches. That doesn't seem possible to be without changing the top triple tree due to the fact that on an xj the bottom of the handle bar clamp is machined into the triple not simpily bolted through. Can somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I don't just want a low flat bar look like the first pic...looking to get more like the second pic. I thought that I would be able to buy a set of bars the would clamp to orignal clamp to achieve that...riser with a flat bar built in....hopefully somebody here has done this:)

    Thanks
    Brad

I've seen that type before, but know who makes them. Start searching custom motorcycle supply shops on line.
