81 650 maxim

    Been looking online for a fuel filter for a 81 650 maxim.
    But cannot find one. Dumb question here but does this bike use a filter.
    I have a haynes manual but it does not mention one either.

    If I remember correctly it has a screen that is part of the petcock. I put an inline filter on my xj750 to keep any particals out of the carbs. I just picked mine up at Autozone (it was with the parts they sell for loan mowers)

    The filter is a plastic screen thingy inside the fuel tank attached to the petcock. Many of us add a small inline fuel filter in the line to the carbs.

    Thanks guys. I figured it was a simple answer.
    I quess any small inline filter will work as long as the connection sizes
    are the same. obviously lol
    Should the filter in the tank be removed or cleaned
    or not worry about it?

    Don't worry about it unless you start having fuel delivery problems.
