OK Guys, now I have a question for you. I have a 81' XJ Seca with a Vetter Fairing. I want to put the Fairing into storage and to do so I have to remove the windshield. I have removed all of the screws, bolts ect. but the windshield will not separate from the Fairing itself? What's the trick? It would seem that where the black cowling which attaches to the Fairing meets that something there is holding the two from separating but I can't see anything that is stopping it from separating. Naturally I don't want to break it in the process so anyone have any suggestions? Grunt007, 81' XJ750 Seca R

There is a foam rubber seal between the windshield, and the fairing body. Over time this seal tends to glue the windshield to the fairing body.

You will probably have to take a knife or razor blade, and carefully cut this seal loose to take the windshield off. The seal will be destroyed in the process. So plan on replacing it when you go to reinstall the windshield.

Thanks RedLiner, I will look to see if I can find that seal and then do just what you said about cutting it. That might be just what my problem was and not being able to see it I was sort of stuck in the mud on the subject. Thanks again and as usual you guys in here seem to always have all the right answers to solve the problems at hand. grunt007, 81' XJ750 Seca, Mi.

Hey Grunt...any chance you'd be willing to part with the mounting bracket for that Windjammer?
If so, let me know...I'm in need of one.

You shouldn't have too much trouble seeing that gasket....it's about 1.5 inches wide and runs right around the whole bottom " W " shape of the windshield. The windshield lays right on it. You are looking at it right through the windshield.

Hey Patmax, what would I do with the Fairing ect. with out the mounting assemble????:):: I have still not figured out if I am going to use the fairing, fetter seat back rest and storage cabinet, and rear Fetter side cases or not. But to be honest I am considering selling the whole set if I find out I have to put to much more money into this bike. Seems like I am going through money like butter and I haven't even started to get to the meat of the machine yet? :) grunt007, 81' XJ750 Seca R, Michigan

Hey RedLiner, thanks for the Vetter web site, I may need that before I am done. As usual you guys sure have the answers to problems on the XJ's. Best source of information I have yet to find. Amazing how much Wisdom there is in this Web site on these machines. You guys should get together and start a shop someplace just for restoring custom XJ's. Bet you could crate quite a market for them. grunt007, 81'XJ 750 Seca R

Ha Ha! Good point...but nothing ventured nothing gained. Besides, if you were selling the fairing and panniers to somebody with a bike other than an XJ....well, then the bracket would be useless and probably thrown away.
Maybe I get lucky...worst you can say is no. Hit me up if it ever becomes available...

PatMac, To be honest I really have no idea at this point of just how much all of that would be worth and then there is the shipping and that is quite a bit of stuff to ship. I can email you a picture of all of that on the bike so you can see what they are like and the condition of them which I consider very good. What color is your bike? These are all a red metallic. If you want a picture of the bike with the fairing and all on the bike just send me your email address and I will send the picture to you. grunt007, 81'XJ 750 Seca R. Michigan, also there is the headlight in the fairing and tail lights in the rear compartment with the cushion back rest on it for the second rider. The rear Vetter side boxes have key locks on them and you just release them and each one has a handle on it where they just pop off the bike and you carry them just like a suitcase. Really a pretty smart way of doing it. There are key locks on them also.
