I have been working on my 81 750. As a I was tearing it down and I ( stupidly ) decided to tear apart the headlamp assembly and un connect all the wires in that rats nest. I didn’t even look at what went to where. I assumed the colors will just match up. As I am putting everything back together I realize everything doesn’t match up. I have searched the forum and found some treads that just dead end. Does anyone that was smart have a quick guide to put this mess back together? I know I am dumb.. just need your help please..!

1st, you are not dumb. What you did was dumb but you did it out of ignorance brought about by lack of experience. You have taken the first step toward knowledge and wisdom. Acknowledging your flaws is the first step toward wisdom.
Do you have the schematic? I ran into the same problem years back and figured it out following the wiring schematic colors. Yes, I had to chase wires out to their sources but I didn't have the comfort and support of this (or any for that matter) website. IF you don't have a book, get one, it will save you heaps of time and worry.
I'll pop into my 81 750 Seca and see if I can map out the color arrangement for you. I've got my daughter every evening save some hours on the weekend so I'll try to squeeze it in as soon as mommy comes home tonight. I'll keep you posted.
    Good luck!

Thanks.. . I was proud that I was able to rebuild the cards , rebuild the master cylinder, colortune... But failed at the one thing that I should have taken my time with. That is the way it goes..! If it hadn’t been for this site I would have been screwed a long time ago. I have the Cd. I am having difficulties with printing.

Actually, pretty much everything does just "match up." Almost every male connector in that bucket only has one matching female connector. What's left over that you're stuck on?

There is a three pin connector (three actually) that you can cross wire (connect to a matching connector) and it does weird things besides not letting the bike fire up (don't ask me how I know this). They are not all color coded correctly. That is the only issue I can remember. Other than that I'll agree with you SQL!

All that is left is Misc male/female single wire connectors. I didn’t see that the colors matched up. the bike run.. In fact I couldn’t wait to put in the head light to take it in for a test ride around the block.

I am down to the the wires for the front blinkers... Each light has 2 red and one black. I dont know what wire the hook up to. I attached the pic of my bike. I bought it and the parts bike for $500.. I have been working on it for a couple months. this winter I am going to do a 100% restore on this one and hopefully a cafe racer with the other. That way I can post to the mod forum also.

Green is for the right turn indicator and Brown is for the left. The black double plug is for the ground return from each side.
