I am replacing the fork seals on my 81 Seca 750 and I was rolling along fine until.....
I loosened the triple clamps to drop the upper fork tube and the air pressure inlet collar seems stuck on the tube...
My question is... How do these come off? Is there a fastener or circlip or other that keeps this collar on the tube?
I have removed the air valve and can see the hole in the tube but.... Seems there would be some sealing device, O-ring etc that would come into play here... or?
Don't want to trash anything without more knowledge so.... I STOPPED...
I am stuck.... Anyone with some experience on these?
    Thanks Broz

They just have a couple of O-rings inside but are probably stuck. Some WD-40 might help get it off.

Welcome Broz97, hope we can help you out. On your unit, you will need to pull the air pressure inlet collar off and remove the circlip located underneath them. Should be smooth sailing after that. If you can't see the circlip, loosen the clamp bolts and push the stanchion tubes up a little bit, might help you see the clip in it's slot. Best of luck, let us know where you end up.

I did my forks a few weeks back and just like ArizonaSteve says, a couple of orings holding the collar to the fork, and as Robert says, a thin circlip just below them.

Gentlemen... Thank You for the incite... Not my first rodeo re-sealing forks but it was my first go at forks with an air pressure collar. While I trust my judgement, I trust the voices of experience far more.
Thanks for taking the time to reply..
My XJ Seca will be roadworthy soon.
    Best to You, Broz
