81 xj 550 maxim repair manual

    I'm looking at replacing the clutch plates on my 550 maxim, and a few other misc projects on it. I do not have a repair manual for it yet and was wondering if there is a certain brand repair manual that any one on here had found to be "the best" one. ... thanks in advance for your input.

    when it comes to repair manuals. no one manual gets it all right. many members here have multiple manuals to cross reference.

    I just read this link the other day... lol. .. it's what actually made me decide to get a manual and start doing it myself vs paying for it.... it was a very good read and well done article. ...I was just curious about the manuals because in my automotive experience there are books I would not buy again and there are the really reliable go to source for a good manual....

    That article, Clutches 101, was written by Bigfitz. He knows more about the 550 than anyone on here. Use that articles info and you will have no trouble doing your clutch. There is info in there that was left out of the manual.
