81 XJ550 Maxim convert

    Hi,

    I am looking for advice/information on if anyone has ever taken the 550 chain drive and changed out the engine and drive to a 750 with shaft drive? If so, how hard of a project would I be looking at?

    Not happening. The frame is about a foot too short in the engine "bay" and the swingarm from the shaftie won't "mate up" to the 550's frame.

    If you want a 750 Maxim with shaft drive, get a 750 Maxim. MUCH easier; possible even.
