I posted awhile ago about my bike not starting when it got hot. Well my problem has morphed into not running when hot. It will start and run like a dream for about 20 minutes and then sputter out and die (used car salesmens dream). Any idea's about what could be wrong. Oh i also pulled the carbs and found a mouse logged in them. Heard lots of people talk about mouse in the carbs and i actually had one (lol).

LOL! I don't believe it! Any pics? Well it looks like a good carb cleaning is in order. Unless the mouse was in the airbox and not in the intake tract of the carbs. Problem sounds like fuel starvation would be the most likely culprit. I would make sure the tank is venting by opening the gas cap and listening for a whoosh sound. This will have to be done when the bike stops running. The whoosh would mean a rush of air into the tank which is pulling a vacuum. This happens when the gas cap fails to vent. I would also check the vacuum line to the petcock for any cracks or splits. Does any of the electrics go out when the bike stops?

I have traced this problem to a faulty Vacuum Line running to the Petcock on more than one occasion.

The story's the same. Got a NEW Battery. Old Battery Drain Hose is fine.
Shame to just toss that New Vent Hose ... so they Pimp the Petcock Vacuum Line with the clear stuff.

That ... once it gets warmed-up good ... collapses-in on itself ... sealing off the Manifold and ending Vacuum Pull to the Petcock.

    Result:

    You run out of gas.

If it takes some cranking to get 'er started back-up after she cools off ... peek at the Vacuum Line and make sure it's VACUUM Line.

Thats funny, i was going to do that exact thing but then i figured if they wanted clear fuel lines on their they would come with them. The problem with my bike is i'm an ass. The bike wasn't shuting down when it got hot it was running out of gas because my jets where coated with slime (probablly from the mouse) and every time i let the bike sit it gave the carbs a chance to fill up. I have slight problem though, one of my jets wont come out of the carb, i have tried heating it up (carefully) and still nothing. Should i drill it out or is there another way? Thanks for the help guys, you were pretty much bang on. The carbs looked so clean until i strted to pull out the internals.

    Precisely which one.

    Pilot Screw
    Main Fuel
    Pilot Fuel

Don't drill it until we see if we can trick it out.

Pilot fuel, i ended up drilling a hole through it the same size as the others. In theory it should work but id on't know for sure. I don't know if this would have anything to do with the problems i am having now or not. It seems as though iw ill have to pullmy carbs apart again anyhow so if you have an idea on how to get that out i would appretiate it.

That Jet is Brass and will come-out when drilled to allow the first or second size Easy-Out.

Sometime you wind-up drilling it right out to a brass film over the threads in there and them cutting through the Brass and peeling it off the threads.
