81 XJ650 Elec prob

ok before i got this battery charged it started up just fine with a jump from a car. I charged the battery on a trickle charger and hooked it back up. Turned on the key, neutral light came on. tried the blinkers, left worked fine and the right just stayed steady, and neither would turn off except to switch to the other one. The headlight didn't work. I pulled the clutch in and attempted to start it. Heard a click then the neutral light shut off and i got nothing. please help

 

Charging doesn't make a bad battery good. I would load test the battery which is a free service many auto parts stores like AutoZone. I would check the battery since everything points to it. If it checks good then I would check my connections from the battery to the solenoid and also on the main fuse. Wouldn't hurt to check the ground also.

 

Have you replaced that Fuse Panel ?

 

Definately sounds like that battery isn't up to snuff -- get it load tested, but I'm pretty sure you're going to be buying a new battery

 

put some jump leads on it if it starts buy a new bat
