81 xj650 needing help

First off I know there is a xj cd i can buy and will be buying shortly. I am trying to split my engine case so that I can clean it thoroly and completely rebuild the engine with new parts. The reason I am doing this is the engine has sat outside with the head and jugs off so water and debree has gotten inside of it. Like I said I am trying to split the cases and am not having anyluck getting them apart. I have searched on here but havent found info on it but I could be not putting in the right search terms I don't know. I will continue searching but am trying to get it apart so that I can get it built so I can ride it with my father. Im completely changing the bike I am putting complete hardtail on it and streching alittle but wanting to get the engine done first then the frame.

 

Never mind got it apart here are some pics of it and I also found some black plastic pieces in the bottom that were broken and wondering what they are or i should say were

Nevermind found out what it is it's the primary chain drive right??

 

'plastic' parts liable to break up are, starter clutch chain guide & the cam chain guides.
