Hey everyone, I've got an '82 750 SECA tank in really nice shape, maroon, with petcock, sending unit, gas cap and key, that I'd be willing to sell or trade for a standard 750 Maxim tank in decent shape. I plan to repaint so color is not an issue, dents and rust are (I prefer none). Let me know. Or if you have a standard 750 Maxim tank I might be interested in an outright purchase. Thanks..........

Do they mount the same? Or is it do-able with minimal modification?

I'd be interested in a seca tank on my Maxim....Got any pics?

Hey Hess, no pictures but I just bought it off eBay a few weeks ago. It's in really nice shape, nothing more than a few paint chips and a tiny depressed area behind the gas cap (which I do have the key for), petcock looks nice, a very minor amount of rust inside and some gooey looking sludge in the front corner of the tank. The emblems are kinda worn and peeling away; you'll want to repaint it anyway.

I got this for my 650 Maxim and it will bolt right in place of the stock tank of a 650 with the tiniest of trimming (like maybe 1/16") of the round front rubber "donut" mounting bushings. So if it'll fit on my 650 (stock bars, don't interfere at full lock), I'm pretty sure it'll fit on your bike (isn't it a standard 750?) no problemo.......

Although it's a very nice tank, I just don't like the way it looks on the 650 with the 650 seat. The back of the tank scallops inward and it just doesn't do it for me. BTW, the 750 SECA tank has a small (1/2" diameter) rubber-bushed holes on either side of the bottom tank "seam" back at the back of the tank (on the sides). I guess this is where the SECA fairing mounting pegs would snap into place. Not very visible but thought you would like to know!

If you HURRY, you can still see pictures of it on the eBay auction, it's #250013911990.

Thats a decent looking tank. I'm mainly interested in the seca tank because of the shape.

Are you just looking to trade it or are you willing to sell it?

I would rather trade, but will sell it outright for what I got into it, which is $75 plus shipping (which ain't that cheap, it's a big box once you put proper padding into it). I'll consider a standard tank that needs a very minor amount of TLC in trade........whatch'ya got?

The tank on my 750 is stock, original tank. Paints got a few knicks but no pitting, insides totally clean and the petcock is in perfect shape. No dents or dings at all.

There's a sizeable spot where the seat used to rub on it (before I trimmed the foam down) so you'd likely want to repaint it.

    This thread: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=1624.html

has a few pics of it, I can get more up if your curious.

I'm wondering how it'd look on the maxim frame. Isn't the front portion of the seca frame straight while the max frame slants upwards slightly? I'll play around in photoshop a bit perhaps...

She's my only transportation at the moment so I'd be interested in the fastest (yet economical) shipping possible.

Im curious about the rust in the tank, the ding and the "sludge" your describing. My bike runs perfectly now and I hate to have a tank swap start gumming it up. How serious is the rust and the ding near the gas cap?

Hess, I'd be repainting the tank anyway, so the rub spot is no biggie.

On my 650 frame...which I suppose is identical to yours....it fits just right, pretty uch the same as the stock 650 tank. I don't know about the frame rail issues, but this tank sits right, I just don't like the way it looks with the inner scallops.

The rust is not bad, at all. You might want to electolyte it or just put some solvent and a few nuts and bolts in there and shake-shake-shake your booty. The sludge is just a small drop in the far RH front corner...which is about all I can see through the gas cap.....and it's just, well, thick brown sludge. If I were you, I'd clean this tank, or, for some extra $$, I'll be glad to do it for you (de-sludge and de-rust).

The dents/chips on the tank are minor, very minor. A fresh factory tank probably has more bondo in it than it'll take to repair this one.

Petcock looks good, I would clean it thoroughly and/or rebuild it to be sure.

Sending unit hasn't been tested, you can keep yours and I'll keep mine (I can only ASSUME they directly interchange) if you wish. The 650 doesn't have a fuel level guage (or a warning light) so it doesn't matter to me whether this one works or not.

    Okay, let me know.......
