I've just recently picked up this Maxim and while I was working on the bike I accidentally dropped it on it's right side. It has roll bars (if that is what you call them) that protect the motor from newbs like me. After I picked it up half of my electronics stopped working.

    Things that stopped working
    Neutral light
turn signals (and corresponding light in the inst. cluster)
brake light (not the running tail light)
    horn
    electronic tachometer

    Things that still work
running lights (head and tail) including high beam (and indicator)
    starter
    oil light
    back lighting for speedo
    speedometer

I spent about 2 hours on it after it happened trying to find what had disconnected but I can't figure it out. There are two wires that split from the harness under the gas tank and are individually wrapped that are disconnected but I can't figure out where they go. There is also a green wire with a quick connect that isn't connected to anything coming from the left side controls (if my memory serves me correctly).

I have gone into the headlight and found at least two other wires that weren't connected to anything but couldn't find an obvious mate. My wiring skills aren't the best and I'm not super savvy when reading schematics. I'll post pics later tonight in an attempt to show what isn't connected to anything. Hopefully you guys can get me rolling again.

    Here is what I found.

These two brown wires are homeless.

This pic is sitting on the bike and look through the triple tree. I have a blue wire that has no mate coming from the speedometer side of the cluster.

This is looking into the headlight. there are two sets of 2 black wires and one red wire that have no mates.

I could just be missing it. I've been known to totally overlook things in the past but I've looked multiple times. I'm clearly just dense.

Look at the fuse block under the seat. If it is the original it is failing and you likely helped something loose when you dropped it.

If it's got glass fuses and the connectors are right on the wiring harness it is stock.

Chacal sells a really slick upgrade fuse box that uses ATC fuses.

The fuse box is aftermarket. I pulled each fuse to see if they had gone bad but they all look brand new.

the two brown wires are for the horn. the red wire is a extra hot wire. one set of double black ground is for the front flashers but they were not used because the stock flashers are ground to our model. the other is extra. the blue wire is also extra but can be used to convert the front flashers to running lights. Len sells the flashers with the three wire set up. I did it. hope this helps.

Thanks rocs that does help. Where should the brown wires connect? I don't see any loose brown wires anywhere for the quick connect.

brown wires are supposed to go to the back of the horn that is missing in your photo. horn would normally be mounted off of the stud on the far side of the bike in your photo.

edit here is a pic of the brown wires/horn

So, I managed to take some time this morning to look over this electrical issue once again. I decided this time to look at the fuses (even though they looked new) one more time to trouble shoot my problem since logically it was the only thing that made sense. I pulled out my newly acquired multimeter and checked each fuse. I noticed that one of the wires wasn't seated into it's terminal so I reinstalled it and now all of my problems are solved.

Now on to the carb issues...
