I'm new to the Turbo bike world; what a blast this thing is! It has the factory power-up kit and makes 5 more hp on our dyno than my '79 CBX does, and the CBX runs really well.

We need both mirrors in good condition (along with the base mounts also). Also, we could use a good factory fuel pump or a good used Carter equivalent. The bike is running a ZZR-600 electric pump (for a carbureted bike) that we had laying around new in the box; it runs well but since the ZZR pump is only putting out about 3 psi (from what I was able to determine), the bowls apparently run dry if you run through the gears on heavy boost. Then it will crank right back up after sitting a few seconds. The fuel cap seems to be venting as it should.

One more thing, the lower fairing crossover “fin” p/n 16G-2835M-00-20 is missing. This is the part that connects the lower forward ends of the side fairings together. Anybody have one laying around? Also, both of the upper YAHAMA fairing badges are missing.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ron

I just bought one of these. From what I've read, a 98 to 2001 R6 fuel will work. Bdesigns has decals.

    LOL....another convert!!!

Congrats on your bike! If you install a real guage(I mtd mine on the left fairing panel) and a boost controller, you can shim the "bov" in the surge tank to release at 21psi and set your controller to 17-18psi. According to Yamaha, they did endurance/breakage testing and it would run all day at 21psi. I have mine set at 18 and if you think 12 is fun, just wait till that needle swings past 14.......a whole different world.

I installed a R6 fuel pump. I've mentioned it before but you're new so you might not have seen it. Yamaha mtd the R6's pump inside the tank to save space but it runs fine outside too. It produces 43psi so it's perfect for our engines. At 3 psi, you're in danger of the constant lean running as the bowls empty each time causing problems. You can mod the stock fuel pump clamp to hold the R6 pump. There's some pics on my photobucket page. just look down on the righthand side and you'll find the 650 turbo album.

You are going to have a VERY hard time finding stock mirrors......they are like hens teeth. Keep an eye on fleabay for them and the fairing piece. Most are missing the bottom 4" piece of reinforcement on the front fender....mine broke and disappeared too but I just picked up a steller front fender from a very decent seller(almost half his asking price) on the bay. Brian at BDesigns is top notch....very highly recommended. The owner of this site, Len is also very highly recomended....he has more knowledge about "correct" parts for these bikes than anyone else I've met.

and WTTC Ron....and good luck getting your parts.

I got that chin fairing for 26 bux. Now all I need is the lower side fairings. A guy that has some for sale hasn't gotten back to me yet. What is Fraps? Anybody have a lead on some stainless steel braided brake lines?
