Moved on to a bigger bike and sold this back to the previous owner. It will continue to be seen around the Minneapolis area. :)

Thanks for the great forum and all the info, it was very helpful.

    Short version:
1982 XJ 650 Maxim for sale. 24,000 miles. It runs. $1100

    Long version:
I'm going to add more details after I get home and verify all the info. I'm going to sell my 82 650 Maxim. I have had to pass up too many opportunities on a bigger bike because I can't afford it until I sell this bike. I bought my bike from a friend last year and learned how to ride and pass my test with it, but it's not a comfortable bike for me. Sometimes it starts hard, but once it starts it will stay running. Until it's warmed up it will stall at low rpms when you try to accelerate, so you have to launch it with a few rpms. I'm sure a carb tuning will fix it up nice, but I just haven't been motivated enough to get it done. I don't think the bike has ever been down, everything looks original, is intact, and where it's supposed to be. I have replaced the fuseblock and purchased a new tank badge for it. Other than that, I put gas in it, change the oil every few thousand(full synthetic now), and ride it. Maybe someone in the Minneapolis area wants to add this to their collection. I want $1100 for it. I believe the bike has about 24k miles on it. I'm sure if you did the carb tuneup you could turn it around for $1200-$1300 pretty easily, but it's drivable as is. I will accept cash only, and the sale will take place somewhere that the title can be transferred.
