I "worked from home" today and removed the valve cover gasket, horn assembly, plugs, oil cooler, engine side panel, cam shafts, and the engine head! Going pretty well for a newbie to motorcycle repair if I do say so myself!

The only "incident" was whenI was removing the side cover so that i could align the valves to TDC for cam shaft removal, the bottom left bolt broke off. There was some thread left so tried to extract with some vice grips and then it broke again. Guess I'll need to drill this out then tap.

I'm now however a little paranoid about installing ALL the gaskets and rings I've bought for fear of snapping more bolts off. Should I just MAN-UP and do it or replace what is necessary and save the remainder of the Athena engine rebuild gasket kit for when i need it?

    Cheers, Adam

If it wasn't leaking I would wait. Did your O rings that fit on the bottom of the cly fit tight? The ones I got when I bought the complete set was a little large. I ended up ordering a new set of Yamaha's I also had to buy a new base gasket the one in the kit was paper thin and ripped when I was installing it.
