82 xj550 idle adjustment

    Can anyone tell me where the idle adjusment screw is on the xj550?

    There is a "master" idle adjustment KNOB (of sorts) that is located under and just to the rear of the center of the rack of carbs. You should see it poking down from the drip shield (if you have one.)

    Carbs 1,2 and 4 have individual idle (linkage) adjustment screws for syncing the carbs, #3 is the "home base" and as such has no linkage adjustment screw. All 4 carbs have idle mixture screws on them as well.

    im having an issue with my idle as well. is there a way i can adjust an overall idle? or do i have to do it individually and sync the carbs??
