    Hi Everyone!
In a recent pre-mid life crisis before our first born arrived in May, I purchased my first motorcycle. I bought an 82 XJ750 Maxim with the idea of turning it into a bobber. I find myself, however, a bit over my head. Luckily I found XJBIKES and hopefully you people here can give me some guidance.
Also a first for me is joining an online community like this as I'm sure will become evident.
So thank you in advance for the knowledge Im sure to learn from you here.

    Questions:

Where is a good place to buy aftermarket parts?

Does anyone have handlebar risers from a 82 xj seca?
(I'd like to put a one piece handlebar on my bike)

Welcome to the site. First things first, before you tear it apart and start modding, you should take care of the safety items, get it running right and get some time riding. Then start the mods unless it's in real bad shape.
First thing you should check: Rear brakes shoes for pads separating from the shoes(delamination). Check the valves, clean the carbs, check the brake lines, check/replace brake fluid, replace old/worn tires, wheel bearings and neck bearings.
I'm sure there's more I haven't listed. Don't know the condition of your bike, just keep in mind how old it is. You can't always trust the previous owner, remember that it's your life on the line.
If you don't know how to fix these things, get a manual or two and don't hesitate to ask us questions. Manuals were part of the list that I forgot.

How did you mount the seat? I'm in the process of converting my maxim 650,
But I'm stuck with seat mounting. I didn't buy a seat yet because I have no idea how to mount it.
Do you have any close-up pics?
