Bike had been sitting for 10 years or so. Did all the usual.Pulled and cleaned carbs.Checked slide diaphragms for holes cracks. All good! Two plugs on left side were black and exhaust smelled really rich. Gutless on the low end but get some rpms in her and is better! Still think should be faster? Replaced all plugs btw. Have not rechecked! Thinking Valve lash now? Any suggestions?

When you take the carbs off again check the following.

    All passages clear
    slides pass the Clunk test
    Throttle shafts seals good.
Inspect carb manifolds for cracks and possible vacuum leaks.
    Now for the fun part.
Rig up something to clamp the carbs too like they sit on the bike. Level and square. set up a gas filled tank with a shut off and hoses to connect to the carbs. Read clear tube method of checking and setting float levels. Ajust float levels as needed.
    Bench sync carbs and re-install.

Remove valve cover and check clearances.
Replace shims needed and re-install valve cover.

install block off tool and vacuum sync carbs.

    See how it runs then
