82 xj750 seca caliper question...

    Am I correct in saying that the calipers on the 82 xj750r seca only have two seals, with no dust boot or anything else? I am redoing mine and I just wanna make sure I am not missing something. There wasnt a dust cap/boot on them, and not in the kit, but I have seen that some xj bikes have them.

    The inner seal is the oil seal, it separates the brake fluid from the environment.

    The outer seal is the dust seal, it keeps road grime and debris from getting to the oil seal.

    You are correct that there is no "boot" over the caliper.

    The 750 Seca uses "holding block" style calipers like the 550s and 1100s.

    I would recommend new "sliding pins" (the pin that attaches the caliper to the holding block) and new pin boots if yours are less than wonderful. Len carries them.
