Go easy on me here, I'm a complete carburetor noob!

My '82 XJ750 (Hitachi carbs) ran well enough after I bought it. One of my cylinders wasn't firing, even with healthy spark, so I thought I'd take the carbs off for a quick cleaning.

I got the carbs off, removed the hats and the bowls and cleaned everything thoroughly with spray cleaner. I'm pretty sure I didn't adjust anything or change anything, and pretty sure I put them back together correctly. The only thing I adjusted was the idle screw, which has since been adjusted right back where it was.

Put the carbs back on the bike. I'm getting fuel to the carbs, and spark to the cylinders, but she just wont fire. I was out there for three hours trying every combination of choke and throttle to no avail.

Here's one thing: I replaced the stupid airbox with four cone-style air filters. I'm betting I need to adjust the air-fuel ratio, but HOW THE HELL do I do that? Where's the mix screw? I can't find it on any schematics I pull up!

My starter is most assuredly on it's last leg...it will turn over several times before it starts grinding out. I'm sure I need to get a new one...but regardless, she started before, not won't after the carb cleaning and new filters.

    Thanks in advance!

I hate to be the one to say anything about pods but, You'll need to re-jet or you'll be way lean.
As fas as your no start problem. Did you try any starting fluid spray?? Or sometimes I'll add some propane to the air box to get mine to fire.
Check your plugs to see if they are wet

If you are not experenced with carb tuning I would suggest that you put the stock airbox back on. Pods are a whole new world of tuning.
It would be a good idea to pull the carbs back off and search the forum for carb rebuilding. Just cleaning them with carb spray is usually not enough. There are small passages and orifeces that can't be cleaned with spray carb cleaner.
Try some starting fluid spray to see if it will fire, you probablt have some carb issues.
