Couple of random questions on the 82 400 Maxim; Does the Seca version's seat attach to the bike the same way as the maxim's? (I mean interchangable) The Seca's seat looks a little more comfortable for someone long in the legs like myself - as is, I often sit back on the Maxim's passenger seat to stretch out some during a ride. Secondly: is there anything I can do (short of replacing the front end with that of a 750 maxim, which I have most of the parts to do) to improve front tire braking performance and lessen the sickening nose dive the bike does every time I use the front brake? I had to change the front fork seals (they're leaking again anyways) a while back and I filled each tube with 4.something Oz. of the recommended weight oil (the amount/grade listed in the repair manual). Do all 400s suffer from underbuilt front ends? Thanks for any help.

I put a spacer on top of the fork spring and used 20w fork oil...huge difference. I also bought a stainless line from speedlinez.com and the brake feedback is far better now.

How big of a spacer dw?
Another victim of the 400 nose dive :)
I'm trying to score some used 35mm tubes now, as some pitting on my left has caused the seal to start weeping (just in time for safety inspection too) So whille I'm in there thinking it would be a good time for some other mods.

I bought a PVC coupler at Home Depot and used two of 'em. Prob 1" or so.

as far as the seats go: nope. The frames are different, and the seat attachment points completely different.
