I have question about top speed of the 83 xj900 seca.
OK I haven't had my bike but couple months, Been fixing odds and ends but just making sure it was ready for me. OK yesterday I took it out on a
high speed romp and I backed out of it at 140MPH this is no BS. Speedometer is dead on, I thought the top speed was around 130mph ish
well at 140 it still had some lung left in it. Was there motor mods available
for these? The only thing I know about this bike is it has 4 into 1 header and stage two jet kit and a K&N air filter , that is what the previous owner told me ,
He was the second owner I'm the 3rd duh! I don't know exactly how much it had left but it had some left . I definitely got my jollies. Any thoughts about the bike would be appreciated not about my driving habbits "LOL".

I've had 2 of these beasts. Way back in 1985 I saw 135 MPH with throttle left.
My current 900 has a Chinese tire and I have no real, proper gear.
But I now have GPS accurate to the tenth of a MPH.
I've only gone 120 on this one.
The bike reads 9% faster than reality. Borrow someone's GPS and re-test.
And I've never had the instability problem with the fork mount quarter fairing. Must be the cheap tires fighting my 300 Lb Arse.

That's an idea, Ill see if one of my buds has one. As far as proper riding
gear it consists of a helmet , bluejean jacket and a pair of gloves and my 240lb. body.

I have taken mine up to just a hair over 100mph, I can't stay there, and I can't go faster........I-me-myself, not the bike. The bike had just begun to open up, so I know there's a whole lot left, and there's no fairing wobble or anything. Just a whole lot more "give me more gas cuz I wanna GO!" left. Personally, I have no need to go that fast or faster save for a very rare burst to get it out of my system quickly. I'd rather ride slower and live longer. Up here, the deer like to jump out at those going too fast. I think it's mother nature's speed trap.

as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
ran with a CBX1000 and a pair of ZRX1100s last summer (and a sportster, a night train and an FZ6 guy as well) and the sport bikes decided to crank it up on a back 2 lane...

they got a jump on me and after the 900 quit squating down (the shocks need more "something" cranked on to them) i was caught up pretty quickly...

they said i was with them when they started to slow down around a buck ten....

i certainly had more left in the go-grip but i definitely need to borrow someones spanner wrench to put some more stiffness into the rear suspension...

When I had new tires fitted, they were rated at 130mph, when I said my bike went faster than that, the tire guy said,"only if you drive it off a cliff"
however, I wouldn't go that fast unless it was on a track, with everyone else going in the same direction.

Near me there's a lovely flat, straight stretch of road that starts at the foot of a small hill. You can see for miles.
I once had my poor old beastie up to an indicated 200Km/h (about 125mph). She was absolutely flat out - nothing left.
I say indicated, but the needle was bouncing around all over the place. Scared the s**t out of me, but I just had to see if she'd do it.
Keep in mind that this was soon after I got her (2004) & god only knows how well she was tuned etc.
I don't know if I'll be trying for a repeat after the carb rebuild & tune. I think I might be too old & sensible now (??afraid??).
