    Hello from Toronto!
Well here it is. I bought an'85 aircooled Maxim in the early spring. Was stored in a heated garage from new,and that's about it! Oil,filters, tires have been changed.
Carbs were sent off to be cleaned soon after purchase.Actually scored a brand new tank during the summer (Work gets in the way...),as the old one was nasty inside.
Between wokk and life interruptions,I've kind of lost my train of thought with this one. Any nuggets of advice in regards to where I go from here?
Any precautions I should be aware of in regards to a bike that's sat for so long?

Check you rear brakes for delamination and all your brakes for stopping power/working. Make sure you can end your trip safely before starting your trip!

Check the fuse box as these often corrode leading to electrical issues.

    Put in a fuel filter.

    Check for loose screws, etc.

    Next?

Hey scarpscape..welcome..if that 3200 is real..u are a one lucky BxM.
Its coincidence that me too bought a 1986 XJ700 aircooled in Feb this year, safetied right away n have used for the season..it was heartful and now sad to see it winterized..I also landed up buying a 1985 NON running MAXIM X 750cc as a project bike..was sitting 2 years..got it running now.
Check or replace plugs if necessary. Would be happy to answer n share things that i hav been thru(after all) as u seem to be relatively close.
    Good luck.
