85" MAXIM-X, XJ700, EXHAUST AND CARB QUESTION'S

    1. WILL CARBS FROM XJ750, 80'S MODEL RUN ON MY 85 700X ?

    2. WILL EXHAUST FIT MY 85''700X, OFF OF AN 83 650 MAXIM?

    The easiest way to find-out is to go to the YAMAHA Parts Page on the YAMAHA Motors Web site.

    Plug in the Data of the 1st Bike and write down the Part Numbers.
    Plug in the Data of the 2nd Bike and compare the Numbers.

    Read the Post revelant to understanding the Part Numbers in the Archives.

    when you go to the yamaha website look up the part your looking for copy the number. then go back to the start screen where you put in all the info on the bike on the right side of that it says shop by part number put your number in it will bring up all the bikes it fits and the years. it doesnt do supersessions but tells what it came on years ect. very helpfull when seeing what fits what

    I have a 85 700n and just found out that the carbs are from an non xj bike. the 700s are supposed to have 33mm ID thoats (manifold boot side), so if the 750 carbs are the same size you have a chance. IT will depend on the linkage setup or how well you can modify. :wink:
