well, thanks for the info. It looks like my only options are to get out the Idle jets' ! and clean those passages..
someone or a lot of ----- have been working on carbs and the threads are goofed up. the #3 carb Idle jet only turns out 2 turns and gets stuck. not good when the info i have read says to start tuning at 2 1/2 turns out. I might have to dril a little and go the" easy out " before this is all over.
close but yet so far away. OMG can a person put some time into these old bikes.

p.s. i have a 63 and 64 dodge powerwagons. OLD to say the least. and i have found a 50/50 mix of trany fluid and Acitone to be the best penitrating fluid. I think Marvels Mistery oil is tranny fluid. they smell simular.
I use Marvels in my Gold wing have Never had to touch the carbs its and 82 with over 80,000 miles and has sat outside most of its life.

I have had good luck turning the screws all the way in, spraying a bit of carb cleaner on the top, then blowing out with an air gun.
Then shoot a bit of penetrating oil in and unscrew them until they're too tight working them in and out a bit. After about 4 or 5 tries, I'll screw them all the way back in, use the carb cleaner again and blow them clean. Repeat until they come out. After about 5 tries I'll put them down and walk away otherwise you'll get too frustrated and loose your patience and strip those suckers.
