Was wondering if the pre-Diversion XJ900 exhaust would fit on my XJ750 Maxim. I'm getting a hole in my exhaust thanks to the great English weather and am finding it quite hard to find a new one. Money is tight so I was wondering if an exhaust from the 900 would fit, as I've seen one for sale at a good price (the larger XJs were quite popular over here so it's much easier to find parts). Thanks in advance :D .

I've read in the forums that the pipes would be longer off of the 900 because of a taller cylinder block. I read this in a thread about swapping in parts from the 900 into the turbo 650. However. . . I took a ruler to my 900 and my 750 and I can't find this difference, measuring from the surface above the points cover to the head gasket, and to the valve cover gasket, and to a fin at the head bolt. It looks the same. Go for it!

Thanks for the advice! The bonus of the system I've got my eyes on is it's a stainless 4-1 which doesn't have a bolt midway along its length where the collector box/balance pipe would be. It seems to be exactly the same as a new one for my model which is going for £230 :|. Will let you know how I get on with it guys.

if you're going from a (admittedly "holy") stock system to an aftermarket 4-1 you may run into a need to re-jet or at least re-tune...

Good idea. It has a K&N panel filter which I recently put in and the carbs are in need of balancing so it'll be a good time to get them rejetted as well.

I decided not to buy them. The bidding went pretty high so I thought it better not to risk it in case they didn't fit. It was a Motad exhaust and I realised on the website that the 900 pipes (MXJ9) had a different part number to the 750 ones (MXJ6) so I've given it a miss. If i see another set going cheap I will give it a go though and will post with my results.
