Was riding my 95' xj600/seca II last weekend at about 70 and heard a pop and felt more vibration than normal. Pulled off and saw a nice puttle of oil under it on the side of the freeway. After a trip to the hardware store to get a bolt to pop my flywheel off I found the problem. The #2 connecting rod had snapped and punched a 1/2" x 2" hole through the case letting oil flood into the area where my staitor and flywheel reside. Bike still runs. :? Just in my garage now if a want to watch oil spit

Now my questions: Does anyone have a running seca II engine for sale?

Will a 91' fzr 600 engine fit in my seca frame?

Are there any compatible engines for my sick steed?

was running sweet before broken connecting rod any ideas what my have caused it?

I would think there could be lots of obstacles with the FZR engine. It is an "FZR" water cooled, not and FZ air cooled? I have the earlier XJ600 and I believe the engine is the same as the FZ. There is probably a difference in the alternators and regulators, carbs, electronic ignition etc.

I would look for a damaged Seca2 to salvage the motor from.

We've been telling people with older 550's that the 600 drops in, but I wouldn't really put a 550 in yours. Get the right motor.

An odd failure due to metal fatigue, over-revving in it's earlier life, or that Yamaha would eventually make a bad connecting rod??
If it was making noise (rattle) you could blame bad oil.

I missed my chance on a 94' seca for $700 a couple weeks ago. Chomping at the bit to have something to ride. Going to check out a 95'yzf 600 tomorrow listed on craigslist for $1400. 21 year old kid that has it said its naked and previous owner dumped it at 90mph after drinking. Title apparently still in the name of the dim bulb. Want something to ride while i wait for another seca so i can fix my bike.

Apart from the fact that an FZR or YZF will most likely not be a straight bolt in fit, they are also water cooled engines as opposed to your air cooled XJ. That's a whole other headache right there 8O
