I HAVE A 92 SECA II. I RECENTLY CRACK MY LOWER CRANKCASE AND HAD IT WELDED BACK TOGETHER. ONCE I GOT IT RE-ASSEMBLED AND MOUNTED, IT WILL NOT START. NOT SURE IF THEY DIDN'T HOOK SOMETHING UP CORRECTLY OR IF IT'S A IGNITION PROBLEM. IT TRIE'S TO TURN OVER BUT SMOKES A LIL FROM THE EXUAST.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE CORRECT WIRING ORDER FOR MY 92 XJ600? SO I CAN MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS INSTALLED CORRECTLIY

Do you mean plug wire order? I'd only be guessing that it is the same as the other XJ bikes, but you really should have a repair manual for your bike.
How long did the bike sit while waiting for the weld job? Did you drain the gas out of the carbs? Did you replace the gas in the tank? Did you check the plugs to see if they were fouled? Did you check to see the plugs fire outside the engine? Did you spray some starter fluid into the air box to see if it runs? Do some preliminary diagnostics and report back.

I'VE HAD THE BIKE FOR 2 YEARS. NEVER BOTHERED PLUG WIRES. ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE TIL I GOT IT BACK FROM THE WELDER. MANUAL I DOWNLOADED OFF LINE SAYS 1/4 ON LEFT & 2/3 ON RIGHT. EVERY I ASK SAYS IT SHOULD BE RAN 1-4 FROM LEFT TO RIGHT OR VICE VERSA. CAN'T FIND A MANUAL. IT SAT LIKE A DAY OR TWO BEFORE GETTING WELDED BACK TOGETHER. DRAINED THE GAS OUT THE CARBS. ONLY REPLACED THE GAS IN THE TANK BECAUSE IT WAS ALREADY LOW. BOUGHT FOUR BRAND NEW PLUGS FROM OREILLY BEFORE ATTEPTED TO START. DIDN'T SPRAY STARTER FLUID IN THE AIR BOX. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP AND WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET MY SECA RUNNING PROPERLY. THANKS ALOT.

Lose the CAPS LOCK it's hard to read.

Cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4 from left to right when you are sitting on the bike.

Coils fire 1-4 and 2-3, true, but the order isn't super critical as these motors fire a "wasted spark."

Service manual commonly available (aftermarket) or troll eBay for a factory book.

You could have one of a number of problems; you're not giving us much to go on; and you're guessing and jumping to conclusions rather than logically troubleshooting. You're not going to figure it out that way.

I apologize for the guessing I haven't done to much work on bikes before. & I had to figure out the plugs because I didn't know if 1/4 went on the left or 2/3. I have purchased new ignition switch, idler gear, CDI, ignition coils, turn signals lights as well as other misc parts.I really need to get my hands on a manual for correct troubleshooting procedure. And it's hard to find ppl to work on these older model bikes in Mississippi. I'll have to look furthur into my bike. Do you or anyone you affiliate wit know where I may find a downloadable PDF Manual? Or can you give me a brief list of common problems I may have so that I may furthur look into those areas? I appreciate any assistance you give me.

Looky what was sitting right there on the eBay scroll: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... &viewitem=

It's hard to find people to work on old bikes anywhere which is why we do it ourselves.

    Common problems: Carburetors and brakes.

I'm not sure if the crappy fuse box from the '80s was gone by the time they built your bike, but it's worth a look.

Install an inline fuel filter; flush and bleed the brakes. Replace the hoses SOON (Stainless lines are a nice upgrade over stock.) Plan to rebuild calipers and master cylinder soon.

Check date codes on tires; anything over 6 years old has to go.

Carefully inspect chain and sprockets, always replace as a set.

Check the valve clearances and adjust; although time-consuming and requiring care, it's not as difficult as perceived but often overlooked.

    Does that help?

What should I do if I drained the gas out of the carbs prior to re-intallation? I added new gas into the tank. I have the wire plugs in correct order. Checked all my electronic connections. everything's appears to be at the correct resistance according to my multimeter. Should I go ahead and spray starter fluid in my air box? Or must I add gas or starter fluid back into the carbs first?

Sprayed air box with started fluid. Runs now. but clutch shifts awkward. Sometimes it will engage sometimes it won't or may slip back into neutral. And occasionally idle has an air sucking/spitting sound when revved to a certain rpm. Also engine makes a ticking sound while running. Have disassembled entire motor. No broken frags of any sort. Wondered if that was normal or could something potentially be loose.
