I brought this bike back from the dead and any information I can find, even in the Suzuki service manual is very vague. This bike is equipped with mikuni bs34ss and bds34ss carburetors.Iam humbly asking if anyone knows where the reference line is on the bds carburetor for a wet set? The bs carb is,as far as I can tell,3 mm below fuel bowl mating surface, the manual says use the reference mark on the bds carb. The fuel bowl on this carb is vertical and there is a bunch of different casting marks. The bike runs great until a 1-2 mile uninterrupted cruise then starts to stumble as if it's running low on fuel.fuel pump output in specs. Thanks in advance

How is this project coming along. Y0u have a project on your hands. The bikes, the 800 and the 1400 are wonderful bikes when they run right. Getting them there and keeping them there is another story. I seem to have issues with the rear carb all the time. It seemed to never like how it was set.

Wet setting them on a bench vise or table with clear tubing is the best. You will have to do some checking to find what is the best setting. But just a bit under the float bowl lip should be fine. The front carb is tottaly different, and I hope is not giving you issues.

I have refreshed a few of these models and will no longer work on them. I don't have the love for them that is needed to keep up with their maint. How do you like that batter box location and access?

Thanks for your reply.I got the levels set ok now it seemed like it was running low on fuel on a long stretch of road at a steady throttle, fuel pump output test passed with flying colors.Since I couldn't find any specs I set both fuel bowl levels 1 mm higher than the levels were in each.Dont have the problem no more.so far so good.the battery is so much fun to gain access to two or three times,to check water levels,it's almost as fun as hitting your thumb with a hammer.my maxim is a Cadillac compared to the intruder

I know, they are great bikes when they run right, but whoever did the engineering on them bikes didn't work on bikes that is for sure. The 200 and above yrs had a 5 speed trans and I loved all of my 1400s while I had them.

Happy wife happy life. Get it fixed and you will be good to go. I know it is a bugger to get it right, but once you do I hope that it will stay that way for a while. You will have to do a sync after you are done with this job too. That is a long sync cable between the front and back carbs. They are great bikes when they are running right. Beast of luck and hope you are able to get it back on the rd soon. See from your zip that you are like me, very few days left of riding.
