Hey new here, I bought my 1982 yamaha Maxim 2 years ago and rode all summer. From then I was hooked to bikes. Unfortunately at the end of that summer I also had my first wipeout. Didn't hurt the bike too badly but I did get a pretty sweet scar out of it. So last summer I was pretty busy and didn't get around to fixing it. I finally pulled the bike out of the shed a couple of weeks ago and starting looking at what I can do to make it even more awesome. I know I want to go for the bobber look. And I've gone through a ton of projects on this website and I've gotten more ideas from it. I thought before I would tear in to the bike I would get some feedback from you guys. Pictures and links would be greatly appreciated. I'm not new to tools but I don't have much experience, this will be my biggest project I've done and I'm really looking forward to it. I might start tearing some stuff this weekend so I will post more pictures when I get done.

maybe just start with puttin some shorter springs or struts instead of a hardtail.

Yeah man the bobber look, what about it. Man mine is driving me nuts try'in to figure out if i should go ridgid, or just put 10.5 drop shocks on it. So far i've once again pulled the motor out to paint the frame, and while i have the motor out, i go up and down, and up and down, with the frame stood straight up on a block of wood, i can see what the finnished product will be either way. I had it lowerd down like a hard tail and liked it, then raised it up 2" as if it had 10.5 drop shocks on, and liked it that way to.

But if i choose to go the hard tail route, i'll have to chuck the stock airbox and go with pods. It also seamed to make the bike look a little small and short as a hard tail to me. I think that 10.5 shocks are the way to go.
