Well guys, I really do want to say thank you to all the guys who helped me get my bike to where it is now.

Bought my 1981 XJ750A earlier this summer, had been lying up for about a year, showed 55000kms on the clock. Was running, but rough.

Since I bought it, I've adjusted the valve shims, checked the rear brake shoes, removed the pod air filters and replaced the main jets from 136! back to standard 120 and refitted a standard air box. Replaced the battery, fork seals, bulbs, indicators, all fluids and filters, grips, dash clock rubber mounts.

Last night I went for the best ride I've had in years. Bike pulled perfectly from the steady tick over to the red line easily, for the first time. Handled well and brought the big smile back to my face.

I still have a list of stuff to do, like replace brake lines, brake pistons and seals, fusebox etc. etc. but Christmas is coming and you never know what Santa might bring!!

I don't think I would or could have done so much without the ready supply of really good advice/info on this forum.

So Thanks again and Seasons Greetings to all you XJ'ers. :D

Cool glad she's going well. Did you manage to find out your fork oil levels in the end?

    Thanks Bloke,

Went with standard UK spec XJ650 per leg to start. We'll see how she is with some miles on her?

Using it as a daily rider at the moment so shouldn't be too long if there are problems to show up.

Great to be still riding in December!

Cool, not sure what type forks are on the A model but like you say it'll be obvious if there's an issue as you're riding daily. It's great considering what the weather's been like the last few years yeah, although they say its set to become cold & wet tomorrow :? We'll see, they have been known to get the weather wrong once or twice before
