Thanks to everyone who gave me advice while I worked of this 750 project. I am officially calling it *done*, for now. Still a few small problems to work out, like why it seems to be running lean, but Ill figure it out in time. I never called it a 'rebuild thread', because it never seemed like a big deal to me. Others on this site have done far more complicated rebuilds than I did, and I just did not think it was 'byte-worthy' :)
All I wanted to accomplish was to take a bike that had one wheel in the bike graveyard, and do something with it, and add some personal tweaks along the way. Any mods were superficial, cosmetic. No frames were cut in the building of this bike :)

I have to get back to work and make some money... just picked up a 1984 H-D FXRDG, a 1975 Kawasaki H2 750 and a 1976 Kawasaki KZ900, so hopefully that will keep me busy!

Blue valve stem caps nice touch. like the color scheme
did you remove the YICS tags or just black them out?

The bike looks great! Nice work. Only detail I would add is some kind black backing behind the taillight to hide the internals. Good luck with the other project. If they turn out half as nice as this one, they are going to look nice. I have a KZ900 myself. Throw some pictures of your other bikes so we can peak.

--XJ550H... Thank you; the little YICS tags on the side covers I just painted blue and then highlighted the letters with black, hard to see in a picture, not much contrast.
--XJOE550... Thank you; yeah under the tail, and under the headlight too... I have an idea for that, but it involves talking the wife into buying a 3D printer :)

This is the only picture I have right now... and I actually already have the H2 stripped down to almost just engine/frame, not much to look at right now. I decided to start that one first because it needs *way* more cleaning than the KZ900. Something about the combination I guess of mixing dirt with two-cycle oil and baking it on over 40 years :) That stuff is like freaking caliche to clean off! The KZ900 is in better shape, but that seat has to go :)

Very nice acquisition skiprrdog! The H2 750 (Widow Maker) is rare bike now and highly sought after. My understanding is that with the abundance of power and having a frame and brakes that are not up to the task, plus being so light, it can be quite a handful. Be careful, the thing has a hard time keeping the front wheel on the ground. The KZ looks like it is in very good shape. Looks like an A4 and not a LTD. Not as valuable and sought after as the Z1 (73' to 75') but are starting to appreciate as well. Yes that seat is hideous. Looks like 70's porn. I have an A4 with an LTD seat on mine. This was a period correct mod back in the day since the LTD offered more launch support at the drag strip. I have been looking for an air box for mine. If you plan on putting on pods and don't plan on keeping the air box. I would be interested in purchasing it. Good luck with bought projects.

Thanks! I have never owned/ridden an H2, but the bike is in pretty neglected shape... mostly cleaning.. it will be a while before it sees the streets! '70's porn, LOL, that is a good description for the seat. KZ prices, for anything up to about 1980, have gone through the freaking roof. Three months ago I picked up a 1978 KZ1000 that needed much love, did the work, and sold it for 5K, *way* above its NADA 'value', and it was not even close to original!

    Looks really good.
Can you lower the headlight about an inch and still see the gauges? It would follow the tank line better that way.

Thank You! I am loving the bike... love the old Yamahas. Now that I have this one (mostly) done, I can start on the XJ900 sitting in the corner :)
