A sad day for motorcycling

    I just read an article saying that Malcolm Smith has died. If anyone was ever a great motorcyclist and genuinely nice guy it was he. I didn't meet the fellow but did get to say "Hello" to and get a reply and smile from him at the AIM show in Orlando years ago. Just one of those people you want and expect to go on forever.

    I bet Steve McQueen and Bud Ekins met him at the Pearly Gates with a desert bike to ride.

    I recalled a story about him a few years ago when California outlawed selling small motorcycles for children because the bikes had batteries with lead and lead is bad for children to ingest. This went on for awhile and Malcolm Smith said something to the effect of "screw that" and started selling the motorcycles out his dealership anyway because kids needed to and should be riding. Not long after that the law went away.

    Problem with CA is everything in that state is known to cause cancer or harm children including the politics.
