    This '68 Trailmaster did not come with turn signals - a must if I'm going to put my daughter on the street with it. They were an option for the bike and I was able to find a set of aftermarket signals. They shipped from Thailand and are plastic, but better than nothing. There's a switch in the right hand control and an indicator lamp in the instrument panel, plus wires in the main harness from the headlight bucket back to the battery compartment where there's an orphaned flasher relay. Here's pic:

    Just want to see if I have the concept correct. I'm thinking that I would...

    1) Splice into the common 12v wire coming out of the regulator;

    2) Split that and run to connectors crimped onto the two flasher contacts;

    3) Split both wires on the other side of the flasher with one going to the front and one the rear on each side.

    Am I missing anything?

    Right, but everything is grounded to the chassis already, isn't it? That's why the signals only come with one wire.

    Here is the diagram Polock is referring to:

    I agree, that's the way to wire it. Of course you'll have a parallel bulb on each side.

    I wouldn't be surprised if that trailmaster had a 6V system, in which case you'll need to use 6v bulbs.

    So, Polock, why should I replace the original flasher with one of these?

    Also, I thought that it was an "R" and an "L" indicated on my flasher. After looking at that circuit diagram for the TF122 on the page you posted the link for, I actually think it must be "B" (for battery, I assume) and "L" (for lights?). I guess I was thinking that the flasher utilized the mounting screw for ground. Wrong again. That's the way it has been going lately.

    Anyway, I've got this completely screwed up. Doesn't help that the wiring diagram in the service manual has inaccurate info regarding wire colors, etc. Frustrating.

    sorry, no you don't need to get one of those, that is what you have.
    a 2 wire thermal flasher.
    in that picture, i don't know what the diode is for, you can try it without them

    Flasher unit doesn't need a ground - it completes its circuit through the lamps.

    That puzzled me too. Then I realized they aren't diodes, they're the cluster indicator lamps. :wink:
