The "Adjustment" on the Brake Lever is for Knuckle's-Over.

Grab the Brake Lever and Pull it to where you have pressure developed.
Loosen the Lock Nut and Turn the Cross-head Screw to Adjust the Lever Angle at the point of resistance.

Set the Lever at the most comfortable point for you to be able to:
Use the Front Brake to Control your Speed
(with a comfortable Grip, ... to 'Check-speed' ... AND still be able to roll-on some Power with Fingers NOT engaged by the Brake Lever).

A "Circle-Changeup" Grip works pretty well.
Thumb and Index Finger able to work the Throttle.
Middle and Ring Finger ABLE to ::: Ride ::: the Brake.

Hi. If your brake feels "kind of low", does that mean that it feels mushy and/or lack strong stopping power? If you have the original rubber brake hose, then you should replace the line and rebuild the master cylinder & caliper. The rubber seals in the MC and caliper were only rated to be in service 4 years and then get replaced! The 30-year old line is fatigued inside and expands when you brake, thus not properly transferring the pressure to the caliper. You could experience a failure!

There is only one position for the front brake lever & that is the correct one, think what you got there, it's not a cable. You need 5-8mm free play at the lever end. simple.
