    Hi,

I recently posted my 1982 Yamaha XJ750 Maxim on craigslist.

    https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/mcy/d/circle-pines-1982-xj-750-yamaha-maxim/7177316714.html

I had a 50 point inspection recently done with the report on that.

People that ask for a car fax type report on a bike that old, do you feel that is a reasonable request even though I have a recent 50 point inspection report? I have it listed for 1500 or best offer.

If you do suggest I get such a report, what website would you recommend?

    Thanks!

Carfax on a 30+ year old bike?
    Let the buyer order one.

tell them if they want a carfax, go ahead and get one. that's a buyers way of ending the negotiation, your bike isn't what they wanted.
what you see is what you get, take it or leave it, don't waste my time. that's the carfax

tell them its not a car.

there is a vin check site out there someplace that would be better to use. it shows the selling history of the bike.
it was a big help to someone I talked to in UK as he had a us import and needed history for his reg requirements

but again its infront of you look at it buy it or dont. looks like a reasonable deal to me.

Both are free, the 2nd makes sure the vehicle hasn't been reported stolen.

I have no idea if they work for motorcycles. My XJ is a 1980 with a 9 digit VIN, I just get an error lol.

For what's it's worth, last time I sold a vehicle on Craigslist, I got a few "I'd like a VIN report from this place, please click this link". SCAM! Do NOT click!
I already had the free report posted, and if the buyer wants a report from a specific company, tell them to buy it themselves. Or block the number because again, scam.

    Good luck!
