I'm having a hard time finding any aftermarket accessories for my 85 Maxim 700. Been looking for a sissy bar back rest that will fit ever since I bought the bike in August. Ebay has been no help. Does anybody know of a website that carries products that will be direct bolt ons for an XJ? The little woman refuses to ride without a backrest.

check out my gallery and tell me if that is what your lookin for? if it is i think i might know someone that has one but am not possitive that he will sell it i`ll have to ask him.

and yes oem parts like the backrest are hard to find you really have to be vigilant and patient when your lookin for something, trust me i know what your talking about, allot of that stuff they quit making 20 years ago.

Do you have a stock seat on your 700? I'm the poster of the thread that Marty mentioned above, and I'm looking for a stock seat to replace it. Mine is in excellent condition, with no tears or wear marks. I'd consider a trade if your seat will fit my bike (82 xj650 maxim ) and is in good condition.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,
    Jordan (Gremlin484)

gremlin i think your seat could be adapted to fit teewinot`s frame but am pretty sure his two piece seat will not fit yours.

although anything is possible and your seat is in real good shape

gremlin, My seat is totally different. The back rest I'm looking for bolts directly onto the rear fender in place of the grab handle. Thanx anyway.

ou812didntU, I checked out your gallery. The back rest shown on the black 85 or 86 appears to be what I'm looking for. It sure seems to angle back quite a bit but since I'll never be sitting on the back I guess I don't really care. If its for sale shoot me a figure.

Like ou812didntU states, you have to be patient; they pop up on ebay from time to time (there was one recently).

I don´t think there´s a bolt-on replacement/aftermarket but modification is possible; I used a fairly cheap Highway Hawk universal sissybar (the bars "legs" had to be bend in shape but the crome didn´t suffer..). I removed the original "maxim" brackets and replaced the turnsignals (because I wanted large saddlebags) but I suppose you could just mount the brackets upon the Highway Hawk´s.

Oustanding job on the backrest Finn that looks awesome, yeh that one i have on my bike is a factory(yamaha) backrest same as the original one that Finn had on his bike, they look like there angled back in the pics but there really not and apparently they are comfortable (according to my wife). Finns Mod of the backrest is certainly a option for you Teewinot but i like i stated i will ask my friend about the one he has and then i will pm you and let you know either way.
