I went to take apart my spare rack of carbs and the slides are stuck. I put some Kryoil in there and let sit overnight and they won't budge. What can I do because I don't want to ruin the slides. The diaphragms are in good shape I even tried to gently twist them. Any Ideas welcome.

    Thanks

Warm the carb bodies in a pot of water. You'll expand the bore and that should break the slides free.
The next step is to give them a boil in lemon juice. The rubber parts won't be harmed, but you can't boil them for very long (5 min should do), and need to do a good rinse to keep the aluminum from being damaged.

carb cleaner or lacquer thinner would be better than kroil. did you happen to spray WD40 on them when you put them away?

I will try that and let you know.
The strange thing is these carbs are not that dirty and varnished up like some I have worked on.

    Thanks

It's been a few years but I did dribble motor oil in each carb.

if you take the plastic screw out and the needle you could tap a tapered wooden stick in the throat and pop the slide up.

I have a big stainless steel pot I'm going to boil some water and give them a dip and see if the aluminum will expand enough to move them up and out. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow

    Thanks again
