Hey guys, I have a quick question that I'm sure has been answered many times in other threads but I am just lazy and don't want to go searching through them all to find it. I have cleaned, bench sync'd, and vacuum sync'd my carbs and still have 2 cylinders that are lean (I mean really lean, like snow white insulators) and 2 that are darn near perfect. So I know its an air/fuel mix adjustment or something is still clogging my emulshun(sp) circuit. How many turns out from fully seated should I start with the adjustment on the air/fuel mix screws? I thought it was like 2-2 1/2 turns but not sure. Any help would be great. Thanks :) If need be I will figure out how to post a pic of my plugs.

    It's been said 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 for the initial set-up.
Did you squirt carb cleaner thru the bowl jets?
Run a fine wire thru the small brass tube that sticks out from the bottom of the carb? I found crud deep inside that tube.

Turn the screws out on those two cylinders 1/2 turn, take it for a ride.

Come back, idle for a few minutes, then check plugs, see where you are at.

If it didn't change at all, do another half turn, and try again.

If you see NO changes... your pilot circuit is clogged somewhere.

My SECA had that exact problem, threw in the colortune an the mixture NEVER changed. Would not react. Clogged pilot circuit.

Also - have you checked for air leaks with propane?
Air leaks will cause a lean situation. If you don't know how to do it, take an unlit propane torch, turn on the gas, and move it ALL around the carbs in question slowly, including intake boots, manifolds, caps on the manifolds, etc. If the motor reacts at all to it, you have an air leak. Seek it out and replace!

yeah I used the YICS tool when vacuum sync'ing. I guess I need to pull the carbs again and go thru the number 1 and 2 carbs again.

Did you try adjusting your mixtures and did they react at all?

If you have a colortune, drop it in and play with the mixture screw.

If it reacts, your pilot circuit is at least somewhat working.

I have been trying to get it to react for a while, and I agree that something is clogged somewhere. I don't have a colortune but I am going to have to get one. I am also going to try the propane method now that I know how to do it (thanks to dpawl). And thanks to everybody, I now have more paths to check to hopefully help end these issues
