I put a handlebar mounted aftermarket master cylinder on my bike (replace the crappy one behind the headlight bucket) and I am haveing trouble getting all the air to bleed from the system. I have tried blowing brake fluid thru the bleeder valve thru the system (a friend said this might work) and have spent almost two hours and an entire bottle of brake fluid bleeding. I am getting tiny bubles coming thru into the resevoir of the m/c when pull and release the brake lever. It almost seem s like there is air trapped where the bajo bolt meets the master cylinder.

I am getting ok pressure and the calipers are definately working but the brakes are still to squishy to be safe.

Anyone have any tricks besides the vacum tool as it is not in the budget?

Any and all advice/help would be very appreciated!

Try bleeding just the master cylinder at the banjo bolt then work your way down the system. That should get all the air out unless the aftermarket master is a bad one.

Check a local auto parts store , sometimes they rent tools like vacuum bleeders. They also might have a master cylinder bleed kit you can buy , they are about 15$. Follow the directions and bleed just like a car master.

Just out of curiosity, you're not trying to use speed bleeders are you?
It's best to use a standard bleeder first, then when the brakes are bled some people put the speed bleeders in. Apparently the speed bleeders don't work well if there is a lot of air in the lines to begin with. Just sayin'.

Thanks for all the advice! I think I solved my problem with persistance. Took another hour and another jug of brake fluid but evrything seems to be in order now.
