    Ace Hardware by a landslide

I've been looking around at various hardware, DIY stores, and major dept stores in person and online... and the place that carries SAE, and Metric screws is Ace. They have a complete isle dedicated to metric screws and bolts that will fit your bike. Not only that.. but, here on the Island, I usually have a swarm of old dudes that will help me out and make sure I find the right piece. So hats off to you Ace and thanks for making my life easier.

I have to agree here. I found that my local ACE hardware has almost any metric screw/bolt i've needed on my 750.

first, another vote for ACE. good selection at a friendly local store.

second, (be honest now) did anybody else read the title about "best place to get screws" and immediately think "overpriced Yamaha dealer"? or am I the only childish smartaleck here?

ACE hands down. Now if only there was one close to me. Industrial Hardware Supply down off Callens and Market in Ventura is very user friendly and McMaster Carr brings up the rear as a last resort (shipping isn't cheap anymore either).

Guys I don't know how cheap ACE is in the states, but I ordered a bunch from my local Yamaha dealer and it wasn't bad...I know some of you are saying it's a rip off, but I just walk in and order. Most times they have the ones I want, if not it's only a day. But I don't have to look through bins and wonder if it's the right ones. I kinda like the convience. Don't get me wrong if you can get them at your local store go for it, But for me it's easier t the local dealer.
    Cheers Mac

That ↑ is a really smart idea, IMHO. Be cool to use our collective needs/market and share commonly sought items, esp. since sometimes it's lots cheaper overall (incl. shipping) to buy in larger quantities.

On items that Len (Chacal) stocks I'm usually happier getting them from him, because I know:
    - he's not going to rip me off (that's just not his style)
    - I'll get the right part for my bike, regardless what I type in the order :)
    - it's good for our community to stick together. Ain't ever had Walmart give me free XJ advice
