I have a vance & hines 4 into one exhaust system. The muffler is shot but the headers are in great shape... My question is... Where can I find JUST the muffler. I dont want to pay 300 bucks for a whole new system. So is there a place to get just the muffler?

Does anyone know what diameter i would need to look at for say a muffler from J&P or any other shop?

    Thanks guys

Just measure your exhaust dai. and you can put any muffler you want on it. A shop could bend you a short chunk to make up the difference if need be. I would check flea bay first probly be the cheapest.

My four into one Muffler sounds like a tin can, I don't like the sound so I bought a Muzzy Carbon fiber muffler for it, I will post pics of what is involved when I get it installed.

I bought the bolt on muffler because I am a machinist, and making a flange isn't a big deal, but without having access to a machine shop, and welder, get a slip-on muffler, and most muffler shops can build you a mid pipe to adapt the new muffler.

I didn't get it yet, but I probably will, it depends on how long I have to make the midpipe

where did you get the tractor muffler?
    hows it sound?
    how much was it?

Thank you for all your input fellas. I think I am going to just find a cheap muffler and fab it to fit the bike. It is just to expensive to get a brand new system for it.

I think have a set of these:

    http://www.jcwhitney.com/dunstall-style ... terid=u0j3

on my Honda CX500 (installed by a PO) and they work OK. They were packed with fiberglass and it blew out before I got the bike. If I bought them new I would take the mufflers apart immediately and replace the fiberglass with stainless steel wool. Getting them apart down the road is probably more difficult.

    Good luck!
