The patient in a 1983 Yamaha Seca 900
Its a project bike coming back from the dead.

I seem to have a spark problem.

The shop book says promaries on the copils should be 2 ohms but i measure 5.

If i unscrew the plug caps off the ends of the spark wires I get about 12000
ohms on each which is in specs.

Measuring the secondaries with the caps installed shows a momentary
17000 ohm and then infinite on the coil for 1 & 2.

This suggests a capacitor inside the plug cap ?

On the coil for 1 & 4, it looks like one of my plug caps is showing an open.

Is it possible to replace wires without replacing the coil ?
Are there really capacitors on the caps ?

    Thanks in advance !

There are resistors is the caps. They are typically 5kohm. On some you may be able to unscrew the cap to access the resistor. Be alert as there is a spring, a disc and the resistor in there so you know how to put it back together once you clean it and/or replace the defective resistor.

I've found it easier to just order a new set from Chacal :D .
