I checked all my valves cuz the bike had no top end power. Haven't really had a chance to give it a good lookin over, but it seemed to run well so I figured for $500 why not. So back to the valves, I checked em and 6 of 8 are outta tolerance. Do you guys and gals think it'd be faster to pull the cam shaft to replace the shims, or just do em 1 at a time? And yes I will check the rear brake when I replace the oil in the differential and those shoddy fork springs.

If it's an airhead, do one at a time. Write everything down first. Then you can see if you have any shims that can just. Switch to a new location before getting the needed ones.

If it's a Maxim X, then you have no choice it to pull the cams.

Well my concern is that even the ones in tolerance are close to the limit, so I'd like to get them on the looser side, which means that all 8 will need at least moved around or changed out . I can't remember the figures I got off the top of my head, but I haven't gotten around to pulling any shims to read their sizes yet.

well… We have said it many times, and I will say it again-

In spec is in spec . it doesn't matter if it's on the thin side or not… If it is in spec, it is in spec.

Hey Clarence can stay right on the minimum line for years… It doesn't matter. You only change the valves shims after they are out of spec
