My 81 XJ650 arrives from the shop today after having some minor work and state inspection for tags. For the moment, I'm living in an apartment but will be moving to a house in the next 60 days. For the time being I plan to cover the bike and park it in the overflow lot which is within sight of my apartment. It's well lit and in the 7 years I've lived here there has only been one incidence of vehicle crime. Just looking for the best option to make things difficult for anyone wishing to covet my bike. Was looking at the Oxford Boss disc lock as a solution. Curious if the extra bucks for the audible alarm is really worth the cost. Thanks. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Wish I could help, but I live in a part of the country where crime of this nature is still relatively rare. I have the original bike chain/lock, never even had to use that minimal security. But then again, I have had a garage for 20 years of the 34 I've owned it.

I have never seen anyone respond to a car alarm owner, security , or police.
disc lock is good for roll away theft but not van ,truck and 3 guys lifting it.

can you chain it to a post ? also chain rear tire to make it harder for 3 guys

best would be short term storage locker

also use the built in fork lock

There are alarms available that send an alert to your phone... This would probably be better than a standard (annoying) alarm.

One of those has kept my machine, my machine, for several years. No problems parking it anywhere I like, and I never forget to unlock it before I ride (unlike the disc locks I used to use).
